It started with a specific frustration.

I was shopping on Etsy for a gift, something handmade with character, and I kept running into listings that felt off. Same cadence, same structure, same AI-style writing, product after product. It was getting harder and harder to tell what was actually handmade.

So I built Handmade Checker.

Handmade Checker is a Chrome extension that analyzes any Etsy listing in one click and tells you how likely it is to be handmade. It uses Google Gemini AI to read the listing, the images, and the description patterns, then gives you a score from 0 to 100.

Here’s how it works:

1. Browse Etsy normally. Go to any listing page.
2. Click “Check Listing.” The button sits right below Add to Cart.
3. Get a score. Green means it reads as handmade. Orange or red means it likely came from AI.
4. Read the breakdown. The extension shows you why it scored that way, from image signals to title and description patterns.

No copy-paste, no extra tabs. One click.

It’s free to start with 10 checks a day. For heavier use, Pro is $4 a month or $48 a year, with 100 checks a day, full explanations, check history, and auto-check on listing pages.

Etsy’s whole premise is handmade goods. This tool is my way of giving shoppers a little control back, one listing at a time.
